If you live in Lakewood, CA, then you’re probably looking forward to balmy June weather. It would be a shame to just sit at home when you can partake in exciting summer activities held within the local community.

You might want to check out the Summer Concerts in the Park, which traditionally begin in mid-June and run until August although the exact 2016 schedule hasn’t yet been released. Watch bands play live every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m in Del Valle Park. These concerts are family-friendly and free of charge.

Get ready for the annual Block Party at the Civic Center on June 25. Enjoy live music, food, amusements and fireworks along with a beverage garden for those over 21.

In the adjacent community of Long Beach, you might be able to find some cool collectibles at the long-running, thrice-yearly Long Beach Expo. From June 9 – 11, you’ll have the chance to browse through comic books, coins, stamps, sports memorabilia and more. Also in Long Beach, there are a couple of festivals being held on June 18 and 19. They are the Big Irish Fair & Music Fest at El Dorado Regional Park and the 30th annual Bayou Festival at Rainbow Lagoon Park.
