How To Fill Out a March Madness Bracket

March Madness begins this Thursday night, so you better get those brackets in. ESPN and Yahoo! Sports typically hold NCAA tournament challenges with cash and prizes, so even if you are not a sports fan, filling out a bracket can still be a fun idea. Most people also join office pools for a few bucks. The key is to not worry to much and just make the picks. Here are a few tips and tricks for filling out a bracket at online or at work.

Upsets: don’t get catch up picking all No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. Upsets happen all the time so look for a few spots to grab an underdog.

No. 12 vs No. 5: this is the most common upset of the tournament, so be sure to pick at least one No. 12 seed to pull off the upset.

No. 1 vs No. 16: top seeds never lose in the first round, so skip out on this pick. A No. 1 seed has never lost to a No. 16 seed in the history of the tournament.

Tips For Hosting an Academy Awards Get Together

The 88th Annual Academy Awards are only days away and with Chris Rock hosting the ceremony on Sunday, February 29th at 5:30 PM, the event is sure to be must-see TV. If you are hosting an Oscars party or get together, here are a few tips for throwing an excellent party.

Popcorn bar: nothing says “movies” like a bucket of popcorn. Clear out a table in your apartment and make it a popcorn bar. Be sure to put out a host of delicious sides to add into the popcorn. Things like jalapenos, cheese, tapatio, butter, honey, and any other topping your tastes buds might desire.

Make your own ballot: the Oscars have a history of getting things wrong, so why not make your own ballet and have your guest vote. Compile the results before the start of the event and ready along your winners during the show.

Red carpet photo booth: everyone loves to take pictures, so buy a few props—hats, glasses, funny noses, whatever comes to mind—and create an Oscars themed background and let your guest take a few pictures.

How To Ignore Loud construction Work

Most people have had the misfortune of living next to a construction zone for a few weeks or even months. The early morning loud noise can be draining. If you are currently in that situation, here are a few tips for staying sane through the madness.

Find out your city’s regulations: most cities have various regulations about construction work. Typically work cannot be done before 7am and after 5pm. Find out the rules and see what can be done about the noise.

Talk with your manager: let your apartment manager handle all the dirty work. See what they can do about reducing the noise or cleaning up any dust or dirt that may be around your apartment.

Hang thick drapes: if the noise is coming from a certain area in your apartment, say the balcony, hang thick drapes to help absorb some of the sound.

Sushi Tips For Beginners in Lakewood

Let’s talk sushi. 2016 is the year to spice things up and to trying something new, and what better place to start than with food. There are many great sushi spots in Lakewood, so if you have a craving for some sushi, here are a few tips to use the next time you dine out.

Do not mix wasabi: many people mix wasabi with sushi (which is tasty by the way) but the spice was meant to be eaten alone. Put a few tiny pieces of wasabi on top of your roll and try eating it that way instead.

Use the ginger: most people just skip right over the ginger because of its strong taste, but the plant is supposed to be used to cleanse your taste buds when trying a new sushi roll.

Eat with your fingers: chopsticks can be intimidating, but traditionally sushi is eaten as a finger food, so stop pretending like you know what you are doing and just eat with your hands.
